On Sunday, October 11, Frenchy set up his easel on the Saints sideline in the Superdome for the Saints vs. the Minnesota Vikings, and painted live on a day the Who Dat Nation had circled for weeks: at halftime, Drew Brees was inducted into the New Orleans Saints Ring of Honor.

The result is Drew Brees “Ring of Honor”, acrylic on canvas, 30 x 40 inches.

No. 9, painted live

Brees fills the canvas in his No. 9 jersey with the captain’s C, pointing downfield with his helmet in hand. Behind him, the Superdome glows gold, and the crowd below comes alive in splatters of purple, green and gold.

Brees arrived in New Orleans in 2006, the same season the Superdome reopened for the Domecoming. Frenchy painted that night from the sideline too, and he was back again just last week to paint Saints vs. Falcons: The Domecoming live on Monday Night Football.

Prints and the original

Giclée and archival prints of Drew Brees “Ring of Honor” are available now, from 9 x 12 up to an embellished 24 x 32. The one-of-a-kind original, painted live and signed by Frenchy, is also available: see it in the archive or ask about buying it.
